I always keep hearing about Dayton's whenever I talk to my family and friends on the shore so it was only right that I check it out for myself. I had a good experience. The service was 10/10 - Sam was awesome and full of good energy. I ordered the stuffed flounder with crab imperial, candied yams and greens. It comes with a side of cornbread. The flounder was SO good! As for the sides, the greens were good -- I wasn't a fan of the cornbread and yams -- I guess I'm very picky on those lol. I tasted the crab cake and fried chicken and get the hype. I should've ordered some chicken to go but it was closing time and it was probably good that I didn't. The menu has plenty of options to choose from, the portions are nice and the prices are affordable! They have daily specials as well. I will definitely come back to check out their breakfast.
Absolutely a gem. This is not our first time here but we decided to go today because the lunch special prices were incredible. As you can see the portions are huge! Our waitress was so sweet and the establishment gives off an old time diner. Be careful of some dishes if you are trying to avoid pork, as it seems most vegetables include some sort of pork whether it's the broth or pieces. The food was absolutely delicious but a little cold. I did sample a fried chicken wing and I ate it so fast I forgot to Snap a photo. Come give Dayton's a try!
Wonderful homey atmosphere. Waitresses are all very friendly and attentive. The menu is down to earth comfort food and all seniors are given a discount.
Excellent food and service. I enjoyed returning to my native roots to get comfort foods I am unable to get anywhere near where I now reside.
7/17/24, I will admit the 'quality of food is EXCELLENT. The quantity of food is AWESOME, totally fulfilling. The staff is totally amazing, customer friendly and knowledgeable--always smiling. Each and every time I go here--carry-outs are very continuous--so you know it's good! I recommend ( Dayton's ) to anyone!!
1st visit definitely prompts my desire to come again and again and again Whitney, our server was awesome, great personality, very personable and beyond on point with service needs Before Requested. Drinks A+, ours were Arnold Palmer and sweet tea... meals also on point Baked Pork chops, yams, string beans oooooo and The Corn Bread Yuuummm Mine was a seafood platter:crab cake( baybee how they hold all that meat together cause I barely tasted breading), shrimp, clam strips flounder sides of Mac and cheese( with awesome gob of cheese in it Yaaas) turnip greens Let's Just Say I Waaaas Very Happy and look forward to My Return!!!
Every USA town I've been to has a non-chain family restaurant the locals return to and recommend visitors to. Dayton's is one of those places. The ambiance was as expected, busy, but not too noisy to talk normally with friends. The dining area was clean as was the well-stocked restroom. Our server was professional, and in our case very pleasant. Our order was delivered complete and IMO quickly. Three chicken thighs, French fried potatoes, and candied yams - a winner! Fried clam strips and onion rings - Meh. Turkey Club - Huge and excellent. Coconut Pie and Lemon Pie - a nice ending This casual place is a safe bet for lunch for friends and family. Three lunches and three desserts with drinks totaled a bit over $50. This IMO was an excellent value.
This place has the best home style cooking around! Anytime I'm in town I make sure to stop by and get their specials, especially soft shell crabs and the fried chicken, the batter and seasoning they use is perfect. It's always crispy and needs nothing else. I recently discover the coconut meringue and wow!! I almost don't want to tell you about it so next time I go there will be a slice for me! Yes, it's that good and I'm not a coconut person! Overall everything here has been amazing! The service is great, they greet you and make you feel welcomed! There are always busy so make sure you get in early or give yourself a little time, but it's such an amazing welcoming place.
